Buddhist Psychology offers an understanding of mental process that has developed over the past 2500 years. It offers the West an important new perspective on Human interaction and mental process.
Amida Trust offers training programmes based on a practical understanding of Buddhist teaching and its application in therapeutic, humanitarian and social settings. Amida Trust is a vibrant learning community, interested in broadening understanding between Buddhist groups and bringing Buddhist analysis to bear on current global issues. Besides offering a number of course programmes for professional and personal training, it also offers study and learning possibilities for full time trainees and for volunteers interested in engaged work.
This site offers information about the course programmes offered by Amida Trust and based on the writings of David and Caroline Brazier
The following training programmes are available: Psychotherapy and Applied Buddhist Psychology Fully Engaged Buddhism
Our Psychotherapy programme continues to offer training at a variety of levels. Students with no prior experience can enrol for the Foundation Certificate, and so continue to a full professional training, whilst qualified therapists can join the Post Qualifying Certificate. Those wishing to enrol can do so with the next course block . The next Distance Learning programme will be in October 2007
The course in Fully Engaged Buddhism offers those interested in engaged practice, whether in humanitarian work or social activism, practical training from a Buddhist perspective. Last autumn we broadened the scope of this course by offering overseas placements under our new volunteer scheme. Volunteers trained under this scheme are currently in Delhi working for a new Amida project. We look forward to broadening our work in India to Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka where we have links with projects working with people affected by the Tsunami. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact courses@amidatrust.com
If you have questions about the Amida courses that are not covered on this web site, or would like to read more about the course, we have a blog site at buddhistpsychology.blogspot.com where we will post responses to any questions that may be of general interest

BUDDHIST PSYCHOLOGY Caroline Brazier
US Edition: Buddhism on the Couch Most of us protect ourselves against being fully alive. Fearing loss and pain, we escape by withdrawing and distracting ourselves with amusements. We fall into habitual ways of acting and limit ourselves to the familiar. We create an identity which we think of as a "self", and in so doing imprison our life energy.
